Effect of Time Synchronisation in Digital Predistorter Enabled SWIPT Networks

The SWIPT systems are envisioned to face substantial power amplifier nonlinearity issues as the transmission power of SWIPT systems needs to be higher than that of conventional wireless communication systems. Digital pre-distortion (DPD) is a viable solution that can be adopted in the SWIPT transmitters to linearize the power amplifiers. The efficacy of the DPD depends on the time synchronization of the feedback signal in the SWIPT transmitter unit. This paper analyses the impact of synchronization issues that affect the harvested energy and information rates associated with DPD-enabled SWIPT systems. For zero delay conditions, harvested energy of −2 dBm and Signal to Noise Ratio of 24 dBm is obtained by the digital predistorter-enabled SWIPT system.
