Research on the Interactive Product Design for Children with ASD Based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Intervention activities based on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) technology have been new feasible rehabilitation approaches for children with ASD. However, due to the fact that children with ASD are hypersensitive to new things or situations, the feasibility of HCI will be seriously affected by their anxiety and resistance. Therefore, this study analysed the anxiety levels and influencing factors of preschool-aged children with ASD through experimental study. The results demonstrated that there were great remarkable differences both in anxiety factor orders and anxiety levels between preschool-aged children with ASD and typical children. Finally, a set of design strategies based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) theory was proposed and applied to interaction product design, in order to improve the behavioral compliance and intervention efficacy of HCI.
