Unified Roadmap for New Generation Platform Data Handling Systems

For Airbus, as Spacecraft Large System Integrator, the challenge is to deploy continuity across avionics product lines in order to extend those innovations which have taken place in specific space domains, such as small commercial satellites and constellations, to the full range of Space applications. In on-board data handling area, thanks to hardware and software technologies from commercial and automotive ecosystems, powerful processing solutions and data communications architectures, modular hardware and software, as well as innovative operations concepts are being introduced. On the one hand, this is a major lever for end-to-end cost reduction (product line incremental management, attractive recurring costs), on the other hand it asks for requirement harmonization and cutting edge technology mastering to deliver dependable solutions in Space environment for mission classes which are usually demanding thorough application of space engineering standards and high reliability space grade electronic components. This unification logic will be presented including a special emphasis on European sovereignty enablers.
