Finite Element Analysis of the Normal Female Pelvic Floor Structure

Pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD) is a common disorder in women, and pelvic floor organ prolapse (POP) is one of the more common clinical types of PFD. However, the mechanism of POP is still unclear. In this study, we developed a finite element model based on the normal female pelvic floor structure to simulate the stress state of each pelvic organ under different intra-abdominal pressures (IAP). This model is designed to provide a virtual environment for clinicians and medical device designers to understand the various pathological mechanisms of pelvic floor dysfunction.
