Application of SpaceWire and SpaceFibre in GR765

The GR765 is a radiation-hardened system-on-chip planned to be the successor of the GR740 quad-core LEON4FT microprocessor. The GR740 is the highest performing LEON-based processing component currently available for space applications and is being applied in various missions and spacecraft architectures.The GR765 architecture includes several improvements over the GR740, most notably the addition of a bootstrap option to select between the SPARC V8 LEON5FT and the RISC-V NOEL-V FT high-performance processors thereby increasing computational performance over the LEON4FT used in the GR740. The GR765 provides a low-threshold upgrade path for current GR740 users that need additional computational performance, improved power performance, or that would benefit from the extended functionality in the new architecture.This paper provides an overview of the GR765 architecture and then focuses on the application of SpaceWire and High-Speed Serial Links in the GR765 chip. The benefits of using these communication protocols in space applications are discussed, including high-speed data transfer, fault tolerance, and radiation hardening. The design and implementation of the SpaceWire and High-Speed Serial Links interfaces in the GR765 chip are presented in detail. Additionally, the paper describes the planned extensions to the GR765 chip and their potential applications. The schedule and status of the project are also provided.
