Mytikas Demonstrator

NG-Ultra with DDR4 for high memory bandwidthWith a radiation-hardened 500k LUT FPGA matrix and a complete quad-core ARM System-on-Chip, NG Ultra offers exceptional processing capabilities for space applications. However, such potential can only be fully experienced in an ecosystem where memory bandwidth is not a limiting factor.Through the Mytikas initiative, Airbus Defence and Space (ADS) in collaboration with NanoXplore (NX) is pioneering the use of DDR4 memories with the NG Ultra component. The project aims to leverage ADS’s experience of similar designs with Xilinx components in order to develop a demonstrator able to demonstrate the ability of NG Ultra to interface DDR4 memory with the necessary margins required in space environments.This presentation will be an opportunity to detail ADS’s chosen architecture, the challenges it has overcome in order to design the demonstrator with a specific emphasis on PCB layout, and also measured performance.
