Experimental Investigation on the Effects of Temperature on Nomex Insulation by Time Domain Spectroscopy

This article investigates on the effect of temperature on dielectric properties of the dry-type Nomex insulation. For this investigation, Nomex-paper based dry-type insulation sample is prepared in the laboratory. Thereafter, the polarization and depolarization current (PDC) of the test sample is recorded at different temperatures (30°C, 40°C, 50°C, 60°C and 70°C). From the recorded PDC data, the parameters of the extended-Debye model and the time-varying parameter model are estimated. In addition to that, the depol-charge is calculated from the depolarization current. Finally, the depol-charge is co-related with the temperature and an empirical relation is developed.
