Development of renewable energy sources to serve agriculture in Vietnam: SWOT and TOWS analysis based strategy assessment

Energy in agriculture occupies an important load in the national energy system. The electricity supply for equipment in agricultural production currently depends on fossil fuel sources. Excessive fossil fuel consumption has changes in climatic conditions. Therefore, the usage of renewable sources of energy in the agriculture sector and efficient energy management practices will help reduce dependence on fossil fuels and cost savings. In this paper, the SWOT/TOWS integrated decision-making methodology to identify the best strategies in renewable energy technologies for agriculture in Vietnam. The assessment further expands to potential concerns about renewable energy (RE) applications to increase agricultural production activities including applied greenhouse agriculture models and IoT technology with some new insights to solve the appropriate challenges in project implementation towards smart and modern agriculture. Therefore, based on this study results, we provide recommendations about energy for agricultural production.
