Determination of PV Hosting Capacity in Taiwan: A Project Result

Many distributed and central PV systems have been installed in Taiwan. An appropriate integrated amount from PV installations on each feeder should be evaluated. The main target of this paper is to evaluate the potential reserve capacity to install additional PV installations in the distribution systems of Taiwan. The selected 20 feeders have the highest PV installations in Taiwan. In this study, the maximum solar power installation at each feeder depends on four constraints, namely voltage variation, voltage ranges, thermal capacity, and reverse power. According to the results, 15 feeders have exceeded the limit of 3% voltage variation. Therefore, control mechanisms for voltage regulation should be considered if these feeders need to install more PV systems.
