Assessment of Rural Energy Supply System Sustainability Based on Energy Cooperatives

This study focuses on rural energy cooperatives, aiming to assess their sustainability while presenting a comprehensive assessment approach. Initially, we provide a detailed description of the operational model of rural energy supply systems, analyzing key elements such as social engagement, community impact, environmental improvement strategies, and socioeconomic development strategies. Subsequently, we propose a mathematical model to quantify the sustainability performance of various cooperatives. This model includes social engagement scores, community impact scores, environmental improvement strategy scores, and socioeconomic development strategy scores, with considerations for the weightage of various factors such as community member investment ratios, community investor satisfaction levels, the extent of improvement in quality of life, and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Based on these scores, we calculate sustainability scores for comparison of different cooperatives.
