A Single Phase PV combined UPQC with Novel Control Algorithm for Power Quality Improvement

This paper explains the novel control algorithm based photo voltaic (PV) combined single-phase unified power quality conditioner (PV-UPQC) for power quality improvement. It eleminates power quality issues such as voltage sag/swell, voltage unbalance, voltage and current harmonics. Modified PLL based SRF is used for reference value generation for series ans shunt active power filters. A modified PLL -based control algorithm includes third order prefilter, low pass band stop filter (BSF). The modified algorithm applied to both filters which works effectively and completely eleminates multiple time zero crossing of incoming polluted grid voltage and exactly calculate phase detection. Adaptive Fuzzy based HCC controller is implemented for both APF gate pulse generation and PI controller is adopted for DC link voltage balancing. Fuzzy MPPT is used to extract maximum power from PV cell. The proposed system is examined by using MATLAB / Simulink. A proto type model is made to examine the simulation results. The results shows that the proposed PV combined UPQC performs good under polluted grid condition with nonlinear load system.
