Optimal Design of a Magnetic Sensor for a Linear Machine

This article aims to propose an optimal design of a magnetic sensor, which uses the Hall effect, for the position measurement of a linear machine. The sensor is designed with a 2D finite element method (FEM). Total harmonic distortion (THD) is minimized while keeping the peak flux density above 0.1

by using the technique of particle swarm optimization (PSO) in conjunction with FEM-based optimization. With a THD of 0.45%, the optimal design is acceptable.
