Optimal Scheduling of a Technical Virtual Power Plant in Day-Ahead Market

Technical virtual power plants (TVPP) play a crucial role in modern power systems by integrating distributed energy resources (DERs) into the distribution system while considering geographical locations and network constraints. Therefore, this enables the participation of DERs in the wholesale electricity market. This paper presents an optimization scheduling model of a TVPP considering the internal network diagram. In this proposed model, photovoltaic (PV) units and energy storage systems (ESS) are scheduled to maximize the profit of TVPP in the day-ahead market. This model is formulated as a mixed-integer quadratically constrained problem (MIQCP) and solved by GAMS and CPLEX. Various scenarios to analyze the influence of different factors on the operation of TVPP will also be presented and discussed in this paper. The model is implemented on a 15-node IEEE test system to demonstrate its practical applicability. The results highlight the model's effectiveness and practicality in real-world scenarios.
