10MHz High Power Density Isolated Power Supply with Planar Transformer

The gate driver power supply module occupies a significant portion of the volume in the driving module, and the power density of the power supply limits the overall module power density improvement. At the same time, the driving isolated power supply needs to ensure sufficient voltage isolation between the primary and secondary sides, as well as small isolation capacitance on both sides. The structure and size of the transformer are subject to certain limitations. In this paper, we conduct research on improving the power density of the isolated power supply, survey existing circuit topologies and control strategies, and analyze the advantages and disadvantages of each circuit topology and control strategy. Additionally, we select the ZVS quasi-resonant flyback topology for in-depth study and provide a basic principle analysis. We also study the structure and design methods of planar isolated transformers. An experimental platform is built to verify the soft-switching performance of the 10MHz ZVS quasi-resonant flyback, with a maximum peak efficiency of 44.9%.
