Design of equipment cable detection equipment based on time-domain reflectometry technology

A portable equipment cable test device based on time domain pulse echo (TDR) principle is introduced. The device is designed with a single chip microcomputer as the control core and FPGA as the test subject to transmit and receive pulses, collect the round-trip time of the pulse cable, and realize the measurement of the fault location of the cable. Firstly, the design theory is elaborated, and then the overall design block diagram, hardware realization and software testing flow of the system are introduced. The picosecond ultra-fast step pulse generation technology, pulse generator, ultra wideband microwave sampling technology, microwave sampler, high precision synchronous sampling technology and specific design methods of step sampling time base in hardware design are emphasized.
