Research on RF Characteristics and Electromagnetic Radiation Safety Compliance of 5G mmWave Base Station Based on OTA

Millimeter wave (mmWave) FR2 is an important core technology in the evolution from 5G to 5.5G. Comparing with 5G low-frequency band FR1 (Sub-6G), 5G mmWave networks in high-frequency band FR2 is characterized by richer spectrum resources, wider continuous large bandwidth, and lower delay. In order to meet the future electromagnetic-field (EMF) radiation safety requirements of mmWave FR2 networking, this paper conducts the research and test verification of OTA (on the air) radio-frequency (RF) characteristics of 5G mmWave FR2 with super-large mMIMO and extremely narrow beam, as well as the research on the level and safety boundary of 5G millimeter wave EMF radiation based on OTA. At the same time, according to the international and Chinese standards of mmWave EMF radiation limit, the electromagnetic radiation compliance of 5G mmWave network is evaluated and studied.
