Abstract:

Quantum communications is an area in the field of quantum computing. Quantum communications has become an important area of research and industry applications since it has the potential for completely secure communication between parties. This is due to the underpinnings of features of quantum mechanics including superposition, entanglement and teleportation. This paper presents a comprehensive literature review on the fundamental principles underlying quantum communication components, notable advancements in both classical and quantum communications, and a collection of significant industry use cases in these domain. The progress made in secure classical and quantum communications is carried out through a scientific methodology of screening and identifying relevant research papers. This literature survey evaluates about 120 papers that demonstrate framework, components, and industry use cases between 2018 and 2023. In addition, the methodology follows the standards for conducting a comprehensive literature review, including questions for research as well as paper citation metrics. In the literature review, various communication technology designs and implementations have considered.
