Blackhole Attack Detection and Analysis of Routing Protocol in the Context of Internet of Vehicles

Vehicles, sensors, and communication technology make up the Internet of Vehicles (IoV). Its main function is to allow vehicles to communicate seamlessly. Connectivity between all these things is crucial. Therefore, routing is the Adhoc on Demand Distance Vector (AODV) routing protocol efficiently connects vehicles and other components. Blackhole routing attacks in vehicular networks pose an imminent threat to communication and data security. The impact of black hole attacks on AODV routing protocol is the focus of this research. Analyzing performance metrics such as Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR), End-to-End Delay (EED), and Throughput during a black hole attack with those during normal operation has been done. We have used NS2.35 for our simulations and acquisition of results, and conducted one-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) tests to establish statistical significance. In this research we have used the IEEE 802.11p standard and performs statistical testing to look for proof of blackhole attacks. In addition, a new technique based on AODV mac packet analysis is presented in this study for detecting blackhole attacks in IoV.
