Technology, transforming the economic growth of Tourism Sector in India: A Social Media Perspective

The digital revolution has greatly impacted every industrial sector, including the tourism industry. Social media has emerged as an impactful medium for all the industrial sectors for impactful promotion and reliable information sharing because of its global reach and low cost. The tourism industry is no exception. The availability of different digital platforms has immensely helped the tourism industry promote itself and significantly contribute to the nation's economy. This study tries to investigate the ways in which social media and technology have helped the Indian tourism industry grow economically. The study uses both primary and secondary data. The results of the study establish the fact that digital platforms are acting as a key facilitator in the growth of the tourism sector via different social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. It has made it possible to personalize advertising, promote tourism interaction and communication, and expand marketing reach. The Study also sheds light on the difficulties and constraints associated with the use of technology, such as data security and privacy concerns. The key finding of the study is that technology is acting as a great facilitator and is contributing significantly to the economic growth of the tourism sector in India.
