TOPSIS Based Topology Optimization Algorithm of Underwater Acoustic Sensor Networks

In recent years, with more and more attention paid to the exploitation and utilization of marine resources, the technology of Underwater Acoustic Sensor Network (UASN) has become a research frontier. As one of the key configurations of UASN, network topology is a crucial factor that greatly determines the overall network performance and network maintenance costs, thus the research of topology optimization receive significant attention in the field of UASNs. In this paper, TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution) based topology optimization algorithm is proposed to optimize the initial deployment of nodes, and then update the optimal topology structure in network maintenance. Specifically, the problem of topology optimization for UASN is converted into a multiple-attribute optimization one, upon which the TOPSIS is adopted to design the cost function and qualification strategies for UASN. Numerical simulation results are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed topology optimization approach.
