Angle and Range Estimation for Multi-Carrier FDA with One Snapshot

Joint angle and range estimation can be realized using multi-carrier frequency diverse array (FDA) radar. However, many estimation algorithms are implemented based on a large number of snapshots. As for one or a few snapshots, the rank of the signal covariance matrix (SCM) will be lost and it may cause some decreases of estimation accuracy. To overcome this problem, we propose an SCM reconstruction method based on atomic norm minimization (ANM) and convert the ANM into a semidefinite programming. By solving the semidefinite optimization problem, the SCM is reconstructed. Moreover, the reconstructed SCM is implemented in the spectral estimation and can obtain better performance than the original SCM from simulation results. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by comparing root means square error (RMSE).
