Research on Low-Frequency Remote Programmable Sound Source System

To satisfy the requirement of underwater target detection and recognition, acoustic communication, and marine environmental parameter measurement, this paper designs a programmable sound source system applied to deep sea. The passive sonar equation is used to analyze the relationship between the transmitting distance and the operating frequency of the sound source system. Then, it is proposed to use robust acoustic communication technology to realize the adjustment of parameters such as the type of transmitted signal, transmitted power, and operating mode of sound source system. A low frequency programmable sound source system is also designed and manufactured, which consists of an industrial computer, ADC/DAC, power amplifier, programmable gain controller, impedance matching module, transceiver and underwater transducer, etc. Finally, we tested the performance of the sound source system in an anechoic water tank, using a low-frequency transducer to remotely control the sound source to transmit the signal. The experimental results show that the sound source system can work reliably underwater for a long time, transmit various signal waveforms of the design, and the maximum sound source level measured can reach 195dB.
