Compact Slot Antenna Design for TPMS Applications

In this communication, the design process for compact, low-profile slot antennas on FR-4 glass epoxy microwave substrate is presented and analyzed. A Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) device is implemented inside or outside the tires, enabling the driver to monitor tire pressure while the vehicle is in motion through a compact antenna. This antenna serves as the primary component for transmitting tire pressure information to the driver's dashboard via wireless networks. The resonant frequency of the compact slot antenna is 434.29 MHz for European Union standard RF band. The return loss, radiation characteristics, input impedance and efficiency are also described to provide a comprehensive understanding of the antenna performance. Design details of the proposed topology and the results of both simulations and experiments are outlined and discussed. Additionally, stable performances in challenging and complex environments for this antenna is also investigated and justified.
