An Augmented Capacitive Coupling Circuit for Boosting PLC Systems in IoT Domains

This paper presents an enhanced design of coupling circuits to boost the performance of power line communication systems applied to the Internet of Things domains. The key ad-vancements include the use of reflectionless passive analog filters, a reflectionless pre-distortion analog filter, and a radio-frequency power amplifier. Simulation results show that reflectionless results in less insertion loss. Moreover, the pre-distortion analog filter compensates for the increased attenuation observed in electric power grids as the frequency rises. Additionally, pairing the radio-frequency amplifier with a reflectionless low-pass passive analog filter ensures sufficient amplification to counteract the attenuation caused by the pre-distortion filter while maintaining reduced out-of-band emissions.
