Design of a Low Cost Medium-Sized UV Sterilization Box

This paper reports the design of a medium-sized UV-C sterilization box (S-box). It uses the concept of sterilization with ultraviolet (UV) radiation of comparatively shorter wavelength, approximately 254 nm (referred to as class-C type UV ray). This device can be used to kill microorganisms and pathogens. The design described in this work consists of certain components which makes it very cost-effective as compared to the products that are already available in the market. The design also includes certain advanced features such as overheating alarm, forced stop, child lock, and other safety measures.
