New Anti-Crystallization Design for Solar Absorption Refrigeration System Operating with the R718/LiBr Mixture

In this study, a thermodynamic modeling and simulation of the solar absorption refrigeration machine operated with R718 as refrigerant and LiBr as absorbent was carried out to determine the effect of the operating parameters (cooling temperature, air or water, driving temperature, etc.) and discuss the operating limits and feasibility even in the most unfavorable conditions. The comparison of simulation results in the different cases of cooling environments of condensers and absorbers explains and demonstrates that the operation of single-effect machines becomes impossible with the continuous rises in ambient temperatures due to global warming. A new anti-crystallization design, suitable for global warming and unfavorable conditions, is proposed and analyzed.
