Bacterial Activity of Onion Seed Oils Extracted by Supercritical CO2 at Different Operating Conditions

Vegetable oils are used almost daily, both in food and in cosmetics. It is easy to think of olive, Argan and onion seed oils, but the latter is unfortunately not of a major interest on a production scale, despite its potential in bioactive compounds with numerous biological activities. This is the main factor having encouraged the present study concerning the contents of this oil extracted from onion seed by means of the green extraction process, based on the use of supercritical
$\text{CO}_{2}$
. The total content of bioactive compounds and the inhibition effect of extracted onion seed oils under different operating conditions on the bacterial strain P.aeruginosa ATCC 27853 were then considered. Highly effective results were obtained, with inhibition diameters of up to 48.5 mm at specific operating conditions.
