Heat Transfer and Irreversibility Response Due to Natural Convection in a Micro Partially Porous Cavity: Micro-Electronic Cooling Application

Recently, new ideas have emerged in the area of cooling micro-electronic component and becomes a challenging area of research. In this context, Micro porous channels and micro porous cavities have proven their increased efficiency for better heat transfer. The present study aims to analyze the MHD heat transfer enhancement and entropy generation in a micro open tall porous cavity filled with nanoliquid under the effect of uniform magnetic field in the slip flow regime. A mesoscopic numerical analysis based on the SRT-BGK lattice Boltzmann numerical method (LBM) is used to resolve the governing equations from the continuous to the slip flow regime with special treatment of the boundary conditions. The bottom side wall is partially heated with a constant temperature T H; however a cold temperature Tc is imposed to the top side wall. The effects of quadratic combination of several monitoring design factors in defined ranges, namely: Rayleigh number (Ra), Knudsen number (Kn), Darcy number (Da) and the medium porosity (Da) on heat transfer enhancement and volumetric entropy generation were reported. The improvement quality and performance of thermal system are determinate based on design of experiments (DOE) and a polynomial regression for the interaction between these parameters is correlated.
