Concentrating Solar Power Plant in Algeria

In this study, the design, analysis and optimization of the performance of a parabolic trough solar power plant with a capacity of 80 MWe in the region of Abadla (Bachar) in Algeria. System advisor model code used to evaluate the technical and economic performances, two scenarios are analyzed, solar only mode and integrating thermal energy storage device (6 hours and 12 hours). For the first scenario, the thermal energy storage is not considered, the results show that the best configuration corresponds to the direct normal irradiation value of
$600\mathrm{W}/\mathrm{m}^{2},$
where the levelized cost of electricity is 10.15c$/kWh and the capacity factor is 26%. And, the other hand integrating the thermal energy storage device with tow tank of molten salt) in the subject to reduce the cost of electricity where the energy cost decrease by 3.5% and increase the annual energy increase with 20%. The most suitable case achieved in the case of direct normal irradiation design value of
$900\mathrm{W}/\mathrm{m}^{2}$
and solar multiple equal 4 in which the energy produced cost is 9.8c$/kWh and capacity factor equal 70.1%.
