Theoretical Economic Investigation of a Novel Dual-Rotor Cascaded Wind Turbine in Green Hydrogen Production

This paper investigates the theoretical economic feasibility of utilizing a Dual-Rotor Cascaded Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine (Cascaded HAWT) for Green Hydrogen production. Its main contributions are as follow: 1) examine the use of a Dual-Rotor Cascaded Wind Turbine in Green Hydrogen production, and 2) assess Green Hydrogen production costs when generated using a Wind Farm retrofitted with Cascaded HAWTs, as compared to a Wind Farm constructed with current Wind Turbine technology. The remainder of this paper is organized as follows: Section II provides an overview of Cascaded Wind Turbine technology, Section III provides a brief discussion of Hydrogen Electrolysis using Wind Turbines, and Section IV provides a Cost Analysis of Green Hydrogen Production using Wind Farms retrofitted with Cascaded Wind Turbine technology, as compared to those with existing Wind Turbine technology.
