Simulation of transpiration cooling with phase change using OpenFOAM

In this work, a new numerical solver based on the OpenFOAM-6 environment has been developed to be able to investigate phase change process in a porous media with the use of the volume-of-fluid VOF model. The computed zone is divided into the liquid and the vapor phase regions and the interface is tracked by the VOF approach. In this modeling, a phase change model is applied on this liquid-vapor interface. Thus, the Lee model is employed. This numerical approach is presented to study the transpiration cooling problem with phase change phenomena in porous media. The effects of heat flux and porosity of the porous matrix on the distribution of the temperature and saturation are studied.
