Simulated Annealing-Based Global Optimization for Multipole RF Cavity Filter Tuning

This study presents a simulated annealing optimization technique for tuning a RF cavity filter. In this study, Two types of 5th-order Chebyshev bandpass filter have been considered: one with a frequency range of 0.84 to 1.07 GHz and another with a frequency range of 0.72 to 0.95 GHz. The result shows that the optimized S-parameter pattern matching the desired bandpass and satisfied the target passband of -15dB less. The objective function is minimized during the iteration, confirming the effectiveness of the simulated annealing optimization algorithm for tuning RF filters and enabling filter designs that meet the system requirements. The proposed technique can find the optimal filter characteristics in the frequency domain using S-parameter and allows for global optimization search. The validity of the proposed method was confirmed through computer simulation.
