Characterization of 5G-based Reconfigurable Wearable Antenna for Healthcare Monitoring

This paper presents the design of a 5G-based reconfigurable wearable antenna that will be used in a wearable health monitoring system. The substrate material is Roger3003 and stubs are used to match the impedance between source and load. To enhance antenna performance, the defected ground structure technique is used along with PIN diodes to achieve desired frequency reconfigurable properties. Simulation and measurement results indicate that the S11 value is < -10 dB for the 5G n38 and n78 bands, while the SAR value is below the threshold.
