Multi-beam Holographic Metasurface Antenna Using Stepped-Impedance Distributions

In this work, a method of using stepped-impedance distribution for multi-beam holographic metasurface (MTS) antenna is presented. By minimizing the disturbance of adjacent sources, which is caused by the impedance deviations of averaging impedance method, the proposed approach helps to improve antenna gain and precision of steering angles. For validation, an MTS antenna for dual-beam steering at 10 GHz is designed. The antenna contains two ports designated for two independent steering angles: port 1 for 10° and port 2 for 0°. The simulation shows that the gain of 16.1 dBi and 16.23 dBi, SLL of 11.45 dB and 12.7 dB are achieved at port 1 and port 2, respectively.
