Reduced Size Modified Square-Shaped AMC for Antenna Gain Enhancement

In this paper, a co-planar waveguide (CPW) antenna incorporated with 2 x 2 artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) operated at 2.4 GHz is proposed for gain enhancement. The proposed AMC is only 0.16 λ x 0.16 λ in size. The AMC frequency range is from 2.35 to 2.47 GHz. AMC is then incorporated to 12 mm x 36 mm CPW antenna. The gain of the CPW antenna is successfully enhanced by 3.7 dBi with incorporation of AMC. Results in terms of reflection phase, reflection phase and radiation patterns are discussed.
