Comparison Study of Ring Resonator Shape for Multiband IRS Application

This paper presents a performance comparison study between two shapes of ring resonators for intelligent reflector surface (IRS) application. The ring resonator shapes used for a multiband reflector are circular and hexagonal shape. Utilizing a multiring resonator design, a multiband reflector is simulated by using CST Software, and the RO5880 substrate is used as the dielectric substrate for both ring shapes. The simulated result is shown in S-parameters and a reflection phase graph to present the reflector performance of each shape. Based on the simulated results, the circular shape has a slightly better performance, wider bandwidth, and reflected power percentage compared to the hexagonal shape.
