Design and SAR of Sub-6 GHz Multiband Antenna with Slots and Defected Ground Plane

The sub-6 GHz multiband microstrip antenna with slotted radiating element, air gap insertion, and defected ground plane, which is fed by coaxial presented in this article. Initially, the design is based on the common microstrip rectangular antenna, which then L slot is implemented to obtain multiband, and loop slot, defected ground and air gap loaded to improve bandwidth. This designed antenna utilizing Rogers RT5880 substrate has multi-operating frequencies within sub-6 GHz, which are 1 GHz, 1.4 GHz, 2.8 GHz, and 3.5 GHz. The designed antenna has a maximum 7.8 % impedance bandwidth at 3.5 GHz with the highest gain of 4.9 dBi. The design and analyses are executed, and the specific absorption rate (SAR) is studied using CST Microwave Studio (MWS).
