High-Precision Joint Estimation of Range and Velocity for LFMCW Radar

In this paper, we propose a high-precision joint range and velocity estimation method for LFMCW radar. In order to obtain high-precision estimation, the echo signal was first finely modeled, including the influence relationships of target distance, velocity, and acceleration. Based on the constructed model, peak extraction and analysis of the echo differential signal were performed. Then we derived the analytical relationship about target distance, velocity, and acceleration and obtained the parameter estimation result through this relationship. In order to adapt to harsh environments and further improve estimation accuracy, we also introduce multi period accumulation. The simulation results validate the effectiveness of the method.
