Fully Integrated Energy Harvesting Application Using Chip-Scale Thermoelectric Generator Technology

As IoT devices are becoming more abundant and the opportunities for implementing energy harvesting in a high-volume market are increasing dramatically, the need for energy harvesting devices that are easy and low cost to manufacture becomes more apparent. If harvesting of ambient energies is to be adopted into the mainstream it is necessary, that it is mass-manufacturable and cheap to create in large quantities. Chip-Scale TEGs have the potential to provide these qualities. This paper discusses a fully integrated application developed using chip-scale TEGs, their integration into a wireless, battery-less patch, and the power levels achieved in our initial development.
