A Modified Lookup Table-Based DTC of a 5-Phase Open-End Winding Induction Motor to Reduce Flux Ripple and Torque Ripple

In this paper, A new modified lookup table-based DTC is implemented with a 7-level hysteresis torque controller for a 5-phase open-end winding induction motor to improve torque ripple and flux ripple and to make zero common mode voltage with a dual 5-leg inverter configuration. the proposed lookup table is constructed with 60 virtual voltage vectors and 20 sectors with a dual 5-leg inverter configuration. The proposed scheme eliminates the harmonic plane components which are dominant in a 5-phase induction motor with the concept of volt-sec balance. The classical DTC uses the 20 virtual voltage vectors which are generated from adjacent and nonadjacent voltage vectors of both inverters and suffer from high torque ripple and flux ripple and high current % THD. In the proposed method, a new 7-level hysteresis torque controller is used to reduce the torque ripple and flux ripple, and current % THD. The advantage of the proposed modified lookup table-based DTC is tested with the existing DTC technique in a 5-phase open-end winding induction motor with the help of Matlab/Simulink software.
