A Comprehensive Study on the Closed Loop Performance of a Zeta Converter

This research study focuses on small signal analysis of the Zeta converter and the design of its control techniques to improve performance and stability. It also compares the effectiveness of voltage mode control (VMC) and current mode control (CMC) strategies in regulating the Zeta converter’s output voltage and current. Bidirectional power supplies, motor drives, power factor correction equipment and solar power systems are just some of the many applications where the Zeta converter (inverting SEPIC Converter), a non-isolated DC-DC converter, finds widespread use. By employing state-space averaging and linearization methods, a transfer function is obtained that correlates the converter’s input and output parameters. The control scheme is examined for steady-state errors, transient response, and robustness to parameter changes after implementing them in MATLAB/Simulink. In terms of steady-state error and transient response, the results reveal that the current mode control scheme performs better than the Voltage Mode Control (VMC) method. However, the sensitivity of the Current Mode Control (CMC) method to these parameter changes is greater.
