The Vessel Tracking Experiment of MRC-100 PocketQube Satellite

This paper presents a feasibility study carried out on the MRC-100 PocketQube satellite, which aims to track ships by receiving transponder data of vessels using a miniaturized receiver. Although the space segment of the Automatic Identification System exists, they are usually part of a small satellite. So far the smallest receiver was placed on a CubeSat, but at the moment there is no active mission with a receiver in this category. The target of this experiment is to show that a redundant satellite receiver for this safety system can be further reduced in size, power consumption and realized as a PocketQube payload.
