Mapping Small Business Entrepreneurship Using Bibliometrics

Small Business Enterprises (SBEs) are sometimes viewed as smaller versions of large corporations, despite the fact that they differ from the latter in a number of ways. There are academic publications that discuss and put out numerous hypotheses about how socially conscious firms might create social value, but there aren't many empirical studies that actually apply tested effect-measuring methods to real-world company ventures. In this study, a bibliometric analytic approach is used to analyze and retrospectively analyze the continually expanding body of literature on SBEs. A co-word analysis of 119 texts found main themes regarding the different topics in each one. The findings show that early publications are typically descriptive, premature, and theoretical, i.e., the majority of studies advocate for and re-imagine a more sustainable, responsible, and equitable post-pandemic business, but very little research thoroughly examines whether, why, and how such theoretical proclamations are materializing or not, and/or whether they will remain a fuss caused by small business entrepreneurship. The report's conclusion on small business entrepreneurship makes a number of recommendations and areas for further study.
