Maximum Torque Per Ampere Control of IPMSM Based on Online Parameter Identification Considering Cross-coupling and Saturation effects

In order to realize high-precision torque output and high-efficiency operation in new energy vehicle applications, maximum torque per ampere (MTPA) control is adopted below the base speed. However, due to the cross-coupling and saturation effects, the parameters of interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) change nonlinearly at different current operating points. The traditional MTPA control method has the calculation error of the target torque to current vector due to the uncertainty of motor parameters. To deal with the drawback of the traditional MTPA control, this paper proposed an MTPA control method based on online parameter identification. Based on dual frequency current signal injection, the dynamic inductance and flux linkage parameters are simply and effectively identified. And through the Newton’s method, the calculation of the current vector under the MTPA control considering the parameter change is realized. Simulation verifies the superiority of the proposed MTPA control method over the traditional method.
