Electromagnetic Design and Optimization of High-Speed Solid-Rotor Induction Motor

High-speed solid-rotor induction motors (HSSRIM) are widely used in industrial applications due to their simple structure and high rotor strength. This paper discusses the electromagnetic design and optimization process of a 15kW-120,000rpm HSSRIM. The finite element method (FEM) is used to validate and preliminarily optimize the electromagnetic design. By analyzing the influencing factors of the selected target, the motor parameters (stator outer diameter, axial length, stator groove depth, stator groove width) which have great influence on the target are determined as the optimization variables. Then the response surface model of type Kriging and multi-objective genetic (MOGA) algorithm are used for optimization. The output power and the ratio of starting torque to rated torque are constrained to ensure that the results meet the basic performance requirements. Then the motor structure is optimized to maximize the steady-state efficiency. Finally, the stator core loss is reduced, and the power factor, efficiency and starting performance of the motor are improved.
