Failures Analysis of Devices in Signaling Systems

Over a three-year period after the commissioning of a section with six metro stations of the first diameter, the failures of devices from the safety equipment were registered. The data has been selected and analyzed according to the type of cause of failure for the various devices (separately for traffic lights, rail circuits, point machines). Based on the statistical processing of the information on the failures, a calculation of the reliability indicators of the devices is carried out using a proposed methodology. The obtained results conclusively prove the need for reliability analysis and determination of equipment reliability indicators. Statistical processing of failure information does not give a complete presentation of reliability, as it does not take into account a number of additional factors. Complex indicators as Comprehensive uptime and Maintainability (indices of Availability and Unavailability) are the most accurate assessment of the reliability of a given device.
