Design and Optimization of S Band Low Noise Amplifiers for Satellite Communication

In this study, a S band low noise amplifier (LNA) that achieves less than 0.5 dB noise at 2.2-2.4 GHz is designed for satellite communications. This study presents a four-stage amplifier design using both Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit (MMIC) amplifiers and transistors. The proposed LNA is designed for 58.4 dB gain. The 1dB (P1dB) compression point and the noise are obtained as 15dBm and 0.5dB, respectively. The proposed S Band LNA has a high P1dB compression point and a higher gain-to-noise-temperature (G/T) value compared to commercial ones.
