Crop Planning Problem with Optimal Matching Between Farmers and Consumers

There is a propensity to support local agricultural systems in light of the rising demand for foods produced nearby. It is essential to manage the agricultural supply chain effectively beginning with the crop planning problem to be able to encourage local production and marketing and preserve win-win relationships amongst all stakeholders in terms of sustainability. With the goal to allow consumers and farmers to use tools to establish optimal matching mechanisms that maximize the total profit of the farmer over the planning period under the constraint of the maximum purchase cost of the consumer, we propose a planning methodology for sustainable agricultural supply chain management. The model also accounts for the yield and pricing uncertainty encountered in the agriculture industry because of weather and demand variations. In terms of commercial and supply stability, this model can effectively reduce food losses from local agricultural products and create a win-win relationship between farmers and consumers.
