Reduced-Dimensional 3D-STAP with Multibeam and Multichannel for Space-Based Radar

Space-Based Radar (SBR) has advantages of larger detection range and longer early warning time compared to airborne radar. However, clutter suppression in SBR is more complex due to the large satellite velocity, long operating distance and the Earth’s rotation. In theory, the range-dependent or non-stationary clutter in SBR can be effectively mitigated via traditional azimuth-elevation-Doppler three-dimensional space-time adaptive processing (3D-STAP). Nevertheless, the large computational load and huge sample support requirements make it impractical. To address these issues, we analyze the 3D-coupling relationship of clutter and further develop a reduced-dimensional 3D-STAP method with the structure of azimuth multiple beams joint elevation multiple channels. Numerical experiments verify the effectiveness of the proposed method in terms of signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) and minimum detectable velocity (MDV).
