Ray Tracing Acceleration Method Based on Multilayer Dynamic Space Divisions

A ray tracing acceleration method based on multi-layer dynamic space divisions is proposed in this paper. The proposed method involves vertically layering the 3D model of the industrial scene and dynamically employing space divisions of the quadtree to each layer in an adaptive manner. During the ray tracing process, only the surface and edge information of the geometric objects stored in the node corresponding to the small division region intersected by the ray need to be considered. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed ray tracing acceleration algorithm maintains the same computational accuracy as the traditional ray tracing algorithm, while improving the computational efficiency to a certain extent. As the complexity of the 3D model increases, the number of intersections of reflections can be significantly reduced, resulting in a remarkable reduction of 50%-60% in overall ray tracing time. This mentioned approach helps to effectively reduce the number of intersection operations and computational complexity of ray tracing in the 3D industrial factory environment.
